Sequential

Sequential is a data acquisition mode in which all the excitation pulses (number of phase steps x NEX x TR) are delivered for one location before the process is repeated at another location, eliminating cross-talk for 2D sequential acquisitions.

Use the Sequential Imaging Option with breath-hold abdominal or chest scans, quick localizers, and 2D TOF vascular sequences to prevent cross-talk.

  • Acquiring a number of 2D sequential scans through an area may take longer than a 3D acquisition. Always compare the scan times of both acquisition modes and the trade offs between 2D and 3D to make a decision that best fits the patient’s needs.
  • Sequential is automatically turned on with FSE-IR sequences.
  • Sequential paired with IR pulse sequence may produce more slices than non-sequential for TIs less than 250 ms.
