Blood Suppression
Blood Suppression uses an inversion recovery preparation pulse that nulls signal from blood to obtain “black blood” cardiac images and reduce flow-related ghosting. This sequence can also be used to visualize cardiac anatomy, myocardial wall masses, and valve leaflets.
The terms Double IR FSE or Double IR SSFSE and Triple IR FSE or Triple IR SSFSE-IR are often used to refer to FSE or SSFSE with Blood Suppression and FSE-IR or SSFSE-IR with Blood Suppression, respectively.

Use the Blood Suppression Imaging Option to obtain “black blood” cardiac images and reduce flow-related ghosting
- Blood Suppression can be used with: FSE and FSE-IR , SSFSE and SSFSE-IR and pulse sequences.
- Blood Suppression can be used with the T2Map one-click application.
- Cardiac Gating and Sequential Imaging Options are automatically selected options.
- Time course studies decrease the T1 of blood and so may require a decreased Blood Suppression TI. The Auto calculation assumes that the series is not a time course study.
