Slice Optimization

Use Slice Optimization with SSFSE and SSFSE-IR PSDs. There are two options:

  • Slice Optimization = 1 (on) ensures that gradient amplitudes are closely matched for all SSFSE excitation and refocus pulses, which results in better rephasing of signal at every echo center. This may result in less band-like artifacts and higher SNR especially for thin slices (slice thickness <= 5 mm). The improvement may be more noticeable in coronal or sagittal planes and at 1.5T filed strength.
  • Slice Optimization = 0 (off). Typically set the value to 0 if you want to retain image appearance (SNR, CNR, resolution) from previous software releases. This can be useful if you have clinical studies that require the same PSD from one software to the next.
