Collect All Available Echoes

Use Collect All Available Echoes to acquire additional echoes that would normally be discarded with SSFSE pulse sequences. This option is recommended for increasing SNR for long TE (T2-weighted) exams and it is particularly useful when imaging the colon, gallbladder, and pancreas.

There are two options.

  • 1 = On. It acquires additional echoes at the beginning of linear view ordering or at the end of reverse linear view ordering. The additional echoes increase the number of overscans, which increases the SNR. When the Imaging Option, Tailored RF is selected, the maximum number of echoes is 264; otherwise, it is defined from the Maximum Number of Echoes User CV.
  • 0 = Off. The PSD automatically uses a fractional NEX and the image is annotated as such. The fractional NEX technique uses approximately half of the phase encoding data needed to fill k-space. For reverse linear view ordering, this results in the shortest scan time possible at the expense of discarded echoes to achieve the prescribed TE.
