RF1 Type

Use RF1 Type with 2D MERGE scans, Mode: 2D, Family: Gradient Echo, Pulse: MERGE or FIESTA-C, Mode: 3D , Family: Gradient Echo, Pulse: Fiesta-C.

2D MERGE supports two different excitation RF pulses.

  • RF1 Type = 0 (Legacy) is the RF pulse that was introduced with 2D MERGE. RF1 Type legacy pulse offers the following:
    • Shorter scan time when compared to RF 1 Type New.
  • RF1 Type = 1 (New) is the RF pulse that is introduced with DV24 software. The New RF1 Type pulse offers the following:
    • An improved slice profile, higher SNR, and longer scan time in comparison with RF1 Type legacy.
    • The scan parameter # of TE(s) per scan is not a selectable field and is grayed out. The value displayed may be different from the legacy value.

FIESTA-C supports two different excitation RF pulses.

  • RF1 Type = 0 (Legacy) offers shorter scan time when compared to RF 1 Type New.
  • RF1 Type = 1 (New) offers an improved excitation profile, which significantly reduces the signal contamination to slices located close to both edges of the imaging slab.
