Phase Correct
Phase Correct is an option for FSE and EPI pulse sequences. It performs a calibration in Auto Prescan, calculating phase correction coefficients that are used to correct the phase of the refocusing RF pulses and amplitude of readout gradients. As a result, Phase Correct prospectively corrects the acquired phase raw data. Phase Correct compensates for undesired phase shifts, such as those due to eddy currents, mechanical vibration, and RF misalignment. This is particularly noticeable on long echo train length FSE scans because data is combined from many echoes acquired at different times to form a single image. Phase errors that exist between acquired echoes lead to ghosting and/or signal loss.
Phase Correct with FSE family of PSDs
Generally, select Phase Correct for all off-isocenter Fast Spin Echo (FSE) scanning, such as with extremities.
To reduce prescan time, keep phase correction on and decrease the TR or number of acquisition.
Phase Correct with EPI family of PSDs
Phase correct is on by default for all EPI acquisition. Phase Correct performs a reference scan following a successful prescan. Reference scan must be performed before any EPI acquisition.
