ECG Gating Cable Indications for Use

The GE high impedance cardiac gating cable is designed for MR applications where cardiac gating is required to reduce motion and flow artifacts. The cable may be used in the presence of surface coils.

  1. Position the patient supine and feet first to accommodate the coil requirements.
  2. Prepare the patient for lead placement.
    1. Shave the chest if necessary.
    2. Scrub the area where the electrodes will be placed to remove any dead skin. This improves the cardiac signal and reduces noise.
    3. Apply an abrasive gel (for example NuPrep) to a cotton swab or gauze and rub lightly on the skin where the electrodes will be placed.
    4. Remove excess gel when done cleaning.
  3. Apply only recommended electrodes and leads.
  4. Connect the leads to the PAC system.
