Scan with Auto Protocol Optimization

About this task

Use these steps for a quick scan parameter adjustment for breath hold body scans. Multiple optimized scan protocols are offered, which have different scan time, resolution.
Note: Auto Protocol Optimization supports abdominal Anatomical Regions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open a scan session and load one of the following body breath hold series as an InRx state:
    • 3D applications: LAVA, LAVA-Flex, Dual Echo, FRFSE-XL with MRCP Imaging Option, IDEAL IQ, DISCO
    • 2D applications: Fast SPGR, Dual Echo, FIESTA, SSFSE, FRFSE-XL, FSE-XL, DWI EPI
  2. From the Scan Parameters screen, click GRx and set up the scan locations on the localizer images.
  3. From the Scan Parameters screen, click Auto Protocol Optimization icon.
    • The button is activated once all parameters are filled and the Save Rx button is activated.
  4. From the Auto Protocol Optimization screen, review the content of each button and click the option that best meets the clinical needs.

    • The middle button represents the original parameters of the protocol.
    • Optimized scan parameters vary based on the application and the scan mode. For details, see Base conditions that enable Auto Protocol Optimization.
    • The contents of the buttons change when you alter the GRx prescription, coil, parameters on the Auto Protocol Optimization Preferences screen, close and open the Auto Protocol Optimization screen, etc.
  5. Click Save Rx > Scan.
    • To check which scan parameters have changed based on your Auto Protocol Optimization selection, click Close.
