BrainStat

BrainStat is an MR Time Course imaging READY View protocol that provides accurate spatial resolution for brain tissue viability given by hemodynamic parameters: BV, BF, TTP, MTT (SVD) BAT, Tmax. These hemodynamic parameters can provide unique information on tissue changes and improve delineation of vascular-deficient or vascular-rich regions in normal and abnormal anatomy.

There are two versions of BrainStat:

  • BrainStat GVF (Gamma Variate Fit ) generates processed maps based on a Gamma Variate Fit.
  • BrainStat AIF (Artery Input Function) generates processed maps that are based on Artery Input Functions. There are three modes to detect Artery pixels.
    • Auto Vessel Selection: Arteries are automatically detected and displayed (default option).
    • Semi Auto Vessel Selection: You place an ROI in the region of interest for the detection of arteries.
    • Manual Vessel Selection: You define one artery.

BrainStat AIF measurement units

The BrainStat AIF functional maps have the following units of measurement.

Table 1. BrainStat AIF measurement units
MapsUnits
AIF- Blood Flow (Relative)ml/100g/m
AIF- Blood Volume (Relative)ml/100g
AIF-Time To Peakseconds
AIF-Mean Transit Timeseconds
AIF-Bolus Arrival Timeseconds
AIF-Tmaxseconds
AIF-Mean Transit Time (SVD)seconds
