TPS reset

Before you begin

The Transceiver Processing and Storage (TPS) subsystem oversees raw data processing. The TPS is housed in your system cabinet, located in your computer room. It is sometimes reset to safely recover from many error conditions.

About this task

Perform the reset procedure when instructed by either a system message or an InSite technician.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In the header area of the screen, click the Tools icon to display the System Management work area.
  2. Click the Service Desktop Manager tab.
  3. From the Service Desktop Manager, click TPS Reset.
    • TPS reset aborts realtime or normal scanning.
    • During TPS Reset, the Scan desktop and Graphic Viewport are locked. This means that you cannot view/edit, save, cut, copy, paste, or download any series in the Workflow Manager.
    • The Rx state may change after a TPS reset.
    • The following warning message is displayed after TPS Reset has been selected if all images have not been reconstructed: Image reconstruction is in progress. Pending images may be lost. Are you sure you want to start TPS Reset?.
    • For a multi-station group, if some (not all) series in that group have been scanned and then TPS Reset is started, all the series in that group will be locked and they cannot be downloaded or scanned again.
  4. Click OK.
    • The TPS reset aborts reconstruction of pending images, Manual Prescan, Auto Prescan, Spectroscopy Prescan, Reference Scan, Prep Scan, and Normal Scan.
    • The bore fans and lights remain on during the TPS reset.
  5. If the TPS reset is successful, the system displays a confirmation message in the system status display message box.
    • If the TPS reset fails, the following messages display:
      • TPS Reset Failed. Please see the message log for more details.
      • TPS/APG communication failed (s) A re-download of TPS may be necessary.
    • Click OK to acknowledge your response to the message.
    • If the TPS reset fails two consecutive times, the exam is automatically ended.
  6. Continue scanning where the system left off.

Results

When the TPS reset procedure is finished, continue the patient’s exam while keeping the following in mind:
  • The series scanned following the TPS reset is assigned the next available series number.
  • The landmark remains unchanged as long as the table is not moved during the TPS reset.
  • The IEC operating mode (Normal, First, and Second Control Mode) are preserved.
  • Graphic Rx remains open when the TPS reset is started; therefore, when it is completed, you can continue to prescribe scan locations.
  • Bookmarks created in Realtime or Fluoro Trigger are retained after the TPS reset is completed.
  • Calibration files are still valid if the patient or landmark has not moved after the TPS reset is finished.
  • Although the Gating Control window closes during a TPS reset, all selections are retained. A Gating Reset is automatically performed when the TPS reset is finished.
