Scan with breast implants

There are special factors to consider when scanning women with implants. Screening the patient for implant type is critical for selecting the Center Frequency peak in prescan and SAT pulse parameters. The prescan and SAT values determine the breast tissue and implant image contrast. Before you do a breast scan, ask your patient the following questions:

• How long have you had the implants?
• Are they silicone, saline, or both (double lumen)
• Are both implants the same type?
• Do you think there has been a rupture?
• Has there been any change in the implants?
