User Training

GE provides a purchasable training program in Milwaukee for new system operators. You may arrange to participate through your local sales representative. In addition, GE provides purchasable on-site training by an GE Applications Specialist. GE advises that anyone who operates the system should attend this session after reading the Operator Manual and related training materials.

GE strongly recommends that physicians who prescribe studies and review images on the your system, attend at least two full days of professional meetings dealing with MR imaging each year. Such meetings include the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (SMRM), the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS). In addition, the system user groups present symposia and workshops throughout the year that provide additional learning opportunities.

The healthcare facility is responsible for training outside emergency personnel (e.g., fire department and other outside emergency personnel) not to bring any ferrous fire-fighting equipment, including axes, ferrous stretchers, or oxygen tanks into the magnet room. Be sure to show such outside emergency personnel where the Emergency Magnet Rundown switch is located. The MR worker must be informed and trained sufficiently to perform all their tasks safely in a way that minimizes their exposure to EMF/EMC emitted by the MR equipment.

MR workers shall be adequately trained to minimize health effects of high static magnetic field as described above.
