Enterprise Audit Trail considerations

EAT is a component to generate and transport standard audit messages about protected health information. The audit message format is compliant with DICOM supplement 95 and IHE extensions.

The concept of protecting Patient Health Information is becoming more important within the medical industry today. This is caused by HIPAA regulations and a heightened awareness of electronic security. Although it is ultimately the clinical site’s responsibility to protect PHI, GE Healthcare should provide tools to help secure electronic systems.

Audit Trails provides key information when PHI is accessed, transferred, exported or imported. The major benefit in Enterprise Audit Trails is enterprise integrated audit information: audit event logs can be stored either in 3rd party Audit Repositories or within the scope of GE Healthcare products (in protected local files).

The EAT component provides industry standard audit trailing feature and comes standalone or with the EA3 authentication and authorization component.
