DST

About this task

The DST option enables simultaneous signal receive from both the body coil and the Posterior Array coil. This option improves image quality when scanning large patients (for example lumbar spine scans) where the anatomy of interest is far from the table top surface where the Posterior Array coil is embedded.

Use these steps when scanning larger patients to reduce shading in the anterior/posterior dimension and thus improve SNR and signal uniformity.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. From the Workflow Manager task tab, select a series that uses a DST compatible coil and click Setup.
  2. From the Coil tab, select an item from the DST menu.

    • Auto: When it is on, it automatically turns on DST if the patient weight and coils modes are valid for DST.
    • On: Turns on DST for any patient weight, and if the coil modes allow it.
    • Off: Turns off DST if the patient weight and coil modes are not valid for DST.
  3. Continue with the scan prescription.
